Do you back out of doing things because you already thought of a hundred million things that could go wrong?
Whether we admit it or not, overthinking is a pretty common problem, especially with women in top level positions and high-profile reputations.
The pressure of making all the right moves is enough to keep one in an endless loop of doom thinking.
I have personally experienced overthinking to the point that I found myself unable to take action and stuck in my own head.
I was literally paralyzed by my own thoughts. The constant worrying, feeling overwhelmed, endless comparisons, and imaginary problems blocked me from making decisions and taking action. Even now, when I’ve developed a few tricks to overcome overthinking, I understand that there are times when it all gets a bit too much.
Luckily, there are very simple and yet very effective ways you can nip this unproductive habit and get on your way to doing rather than over thinking. It all comes down to how you manage your thoughts and what you do to calm your fears.
Things Aren’t As Bad As They Are Inside Your Head. See The Bigger Picture!
When you’ve been mulling the same thoughts over and over, everything gets blown out of proportion. You start to get siloed in. Your perspective of the situation gets narrowed down and you’re unable to see the bigger picture.
Instead of focusing thoughts into what could go wrong, focus on all the things that could (and probably will) go right! Pull yourself away from that closed off space in your mind and literally step out to get a balcony view of things.
Look beyond yourself and your mind and zero in on what’s right in front of you. You’ll find that the reality of things is far less terrible than you thought they were.

As female leaders, we all have huge dreams and goals that we’re working towards. And sometimes, the pressure, exhaustion, and problems get a bit too overwhelming that we get overpowered with bad energy trying to keep up with our own lives.
It’s important to take a breather and put some space between you and your thoughts. Giving yourself time to rest and relax allows you to get back into the right headspace and re-channel your energy back into the positive impact you’re making.
Choose To Celebrate Instead Of Comparing
Everyone is a victim of making comparisons every once in a while. It’s totally human! It’s so easy to look at someone else’s life and think “well, why haven’t I achieved the same level of success in my life or career yet?” What you need to remember is that no one’s life is ever perfect. Sure they may have the ideal lifestyle but maybe they also have struggles that stifle their performance at times too.
Celebrate your wins and keep doing YOU. Be that empowered, confident, and unstoppable woman you know you are. Learn to talk kindly to yourself and fill up on positive energy and affirmations. There’s no one else like you, so celebrate your strengths and individuality to remain true to who you are.
