In my years as a top female executive coach, I always get asked, “How do you achieve success?”

My answer? It’s all about learning how to fail successfully!

This may sound like a bad joke, but some of my biggest triumphs have come right after massive failures!

Experiencing massive injuries after a sporting accident ended my high-flying sporting career, which enabled me to rise up and become a brand ambassador and a TV personality.

Dealing with the catastrophic breakdown of my marriage during the height of my career led me to launch my own business and became a leading marketing and PR consultant to an impressive list of high profile corporate clients.

Oh, and there is also the time I quit my job at 50 after years of feeling overlooked and undervalued which pushed me to create the life and career of my dreams!

So I can honestly say with great authority that failure is not the end, it is actually just the beginning!

Failing Is A Stepping Stone To Success

Surviving failure is definitely one of the best ways to become successful!

How?

Because you will learn so much from your failures. It will force you to come up with strategies, and elevate your thoughts. In building a personal brand or business, the failures you encounter are meant to test our passion and shift your lens.

The way I see it, success is all about self-mastery. The challenges you encounter are opportunities to grow stronger, more determined and take control of your action plan for success.

What’s important is you keep going despite the obstacles that come your way!

Have you ever wondered why successful brands seem to understand their target audiences’ pain and fears so well?

Well, here’s the thing…

The people behind these successful businesses are also the same people who have failed so many times.

Having experienced problems and obstacles firsthand has enabled them to understand how to navigate them.

By courageously standing up one failure after another, this became an opportunity for them to become experts in their field and take their business to the next level by helping others!

Accept Your Failures And Learn Where You Went Wrong

It’s important to take the time to revisit your failure and understand how it happened.

Sit down, breathe, and be honest with yourself. Learn to acknowledge where it went wrong and know what you should improve on.

When it comes to growing your business, you should embrace the fact that failures are inevitable.

No matter how detailed your business plans are, or how great your business mentor’s coaching methods may be, problems will always come along the way.

Think of it this way: Failures are a prerequisite to your business growth.

Which is why it’s important to acknowledge your mistakes and shortcomings, because in that way, you allow yourself to become a stronger and wiser version of yourself.

If you don’t realize your mistakes, you don’t learn. And if you don’t learn, then you are setting yourself up for failure once again!

Woman Focus On Personal Brand

Focus On What You Can Control

Pay attention to your thoughts, feelings and actions, and let go of the unnecessary noise that won’t contribute to your progress.

I know that it’s twice as hard to emerge after a failure, which is why you should surround yourself with positive energy that will push you to do better and be better!

In the business world, you always have to anticipate failures, which will tell you if something is effective or compatible with your business. If something didn’t work, it only means it’s time to move on to the next big idea that will accelerate your business growth.

This goes the same in creating your personal brand! Your blog posts, spiels, and resources won’t always turn out well especially when you’re just starting out.

It’s a constant trial and error, which is why it’s important that you only focus on the things you can change and control.

Come Up With An Action Plan

What’s the most important trait that every small business owner should have?

Resilience!

By learning to stand up each time you fail, you allow yourself to become a wiser and stronger person.

Failing at something doesn’t mean it’s the end, it’s just the beginning of you trying to get it right. Channel your energy into crafting your next action plan that will propel you to succeed!

The next time you feel like you’ve done everything for your business, yet you’re still not seeing any results, don’t be afraid to seek help from a small business coach. Or if you feel like you need to work on your personal branding, you can start by scheduling a consultation with a personal branding coach that can help enhance your professional image for your personal brand.

Remember, it’s important to plan out your next steps, but you don’t have to do everything on your own!
