MY PIVOTAL MOMENT
I currently work for an Australian domestic bank based in Sydney. Before this, I was in London for seven years, then successfully secured a role in Sydney, which allowed me to return home.
However, some events occurred in the first year back in Sydney that was unexpected, and I found myself in unchartered territory unsupported by a manager who was more interested in focusing on building his own empire than leading those around him.
I soon contemplated leaving an organisation I had invested 14 years of service.
It was a pivotal decision.
It turned out to be more prosperous and rewarding than I could have ever imagined, and I have never looked back!


MY LEADERSHIP JOURNEY BEGINS
I was referred to Suzie by a friend I met on holiday in Spain in June 2018. I took time out from my corporate role in Sydney to gain a higher perspective on where I was in my career.
I realised how unhappy I was with my job and need a personal leadership coach to get back on track. So I decided to work 1-2-1 with Suzie to build on my professional brand with her 6-month Personal Branding Program.
The most valuable element was cultivating my own intellectual property, which translated into writing articles, expressing my own opinions on topics related to my profession that I am interested in, and sharing this with my network.
It was a fantastic experience! I now have a truly clear vision, a strong voice, and point of view, and I look for opportunities to use it in meaningful ways.
HOW DEVELOPING MY BRAND HAS CHANGED ME AS A LEADER
My biggest fear before I started Suzie’s leadership development program was that I had lost control over my job security and satisfaction, which made me feel very unhappy.
I had relinquished control of my career and day to day happiness to an organisation. I now see how backward this is. Coaching with Suzie helped me to realise that I must have control over the work I do, who I do it for, and why I do it.
I started my 1-2-1 personal brand coaching sessions with Suzie at the same time as I started a new job. Having Suzie there each week, coaching me, was invaluable. I was able to work through the usual challenges that arise when starting at a new organisation stakeholder management and make an impact as they were happening.
Today I am a more confident, empowered leader with a clear vision for effective risk management and a strong point of view when it comes to debating the topic and ideas on how to best practice it.
I have found my voice, and I look for opportunities to use it in meaningful ways, including presenting my insights with a more significant impact at forums, informal check-ins, committee meetings, and board meetings.


MY AH-HA MOMENT
My greatest self-discovery moment was realising my identity, and a sense of self-worth is not dependent on my job or title!
I have cut the cord between my job and my identity and sense of self-worth. I appreciate investing my time and energy in cultivating my personal brand to represent who I am as a person and a leader in risk management.
This investment in Suzie personal brand services will remain with me whatever role I pursue in my career.
